About Instructors
Suresh Tewari
Mr. Suresh started playing chess at an early age of seven in India. He still remembers winning his first game, after losing thousands of games, at the age of nine. It motivated him to better himself. He started playing competitive chess from 6th grade. He was Champion of his High School in late 70’s, got an opportunity to participate in A
Mr. Suresh started playing chess at an early age of seven in India. He still remembers winning his first game, after losing thousands of games, at the age of nine. It motivated him to better himself. He started playing competitive chess from 6th grade. He was Champion of his High School in late 70’s, got an opportunity to participate in All India Piloo Mody Chess Championship in early 80’s. He was Lucknow University Chess Champion in 1983-1984. He started Chess in Frederick Community college in 1991, represented FCC in inter collegiate chess tournament against established colleges and universities. Later he developed a passion of teaching chess to kids and taught Chess to kids during summer camps at Chinmaya Mission in Frederick. He was also responsible for introducing and starting chess club at the Walkersville library.
Praveen Chaturvedi, Ph.D.
A Chess enthusiast, focused on bringing Chess to the kids and community. A Ph.D in Comp. Mathematics from Southern Methodist Univ. Dallas, TX and interested in bringing his passion of Chess to kids by providing resources to develop next generation of Chess players and bringing the same enjoyment and passion he felt as a kid by playing Chess, to younger generation.
